Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 user now can experience multi-window feature like on Galaxy Note II. Well, not on the entire system, but at least now you can browse around the Internet on a moveable and resizable screen. All is possible thanks to new application created by XDA member known as pidio1. This new app called as Popup Browser. Like i said earlier, it allow you to open Internet sites on a floating window. You can move or minimize the browser if you want, pretty much like on desktop computer. Pidio1 was build this app from scratch and it is meant to be used on Galaxy Tab 2 tablet that run on stock ROM.
However, that doesn’t stop other user to download and flash it into non-Galaxy Tab 2 devices. I already try to install it on my Galaxy Note via ClockworkMod Recovery but the result is not too satisfying. The app does appear on my drawer, but it refuse to run at all. If you’re now using Galaxy S3, you are lucky. Some other user on XDA forum said that Popup Browser work fine on the smartphone.
Pidio1 doesn’t mention anything about mandatory root access, so it seems like you don’t have to root your tablet if you want to use Popup Browser. However, since it is not an officially signed apk, i recommend you to flash it manually via ClockworkMod Recovery or other custom recovery program. This will guarantee you to get the best result. If you’re somehow feel unsatisfied with the program, you can uninstall it manually by navigate to /system/app. Find an apk file named PopupBrowser.apk and delete it from the system. Reboot your device.
