Tumblr for Android gets updated guys. It is now feature new user interface, photo surfing performance, and improved Tumblr Radar section. Although we said that it is packed with new user interface, it seems like the app still need some refreshening. We believe that developer at Tumblr have no clue at all about how to make simple yet attractive interface.
We expect to have the option right below our fingertips, but the developer decided to hide it behind the menus. There is dashboard function, which worked like the desktop version, although there’s some function that missing.
We have no idea why the new Tumblr is still lack of attractive interface. Seems like the developer need to learn from third-party app on how to provide exciting mobile app experience to users. But the positive side is that the app look simple and pretty self explanatory. There are plenty of space for the dashboard. On the top side of the screen, lies four different kind of buttons that control Home, Radar, Profile, and Create Post function. The last button will take you to a blank form to make new posting. It looks nice with the touch from new artwork of Tumblr website.
Scrolling through pictures and photos is now allowed. If you want to discover new people on Tumblr, you can take advantage from the latest Tumblr Radar section.
However, we are also notice that images are loaded slowly than they should be. The dashboard perform sluggish sometimes. Animated GIF image is also not moving at all. Not to mention that when we install the app into our tablet, it lack of optimization. There are plenty of empty spaces and the whole interface looks little bit stretched. Tumblr for Android is a better looking application for a smartphone than for a tablet.
Pinch-to-zoom function is not working in this application. You are not allowed to enlarge texts or images. User are also unable to click or surf around the website using tags. This is quite confusing for veteran Tumblr users like us since it is the best and fast way to search new contents on the desktop version of the website. It is surprising that the developer doesn’t include this function on the mobile version. Reblog and create post require extra taps. We think that it would be nice if the options were placed on the right hand side of the screen since there’s nothing there but a blank space to write something.
That’s all we can tell you right now folks. If you want to say something about this, feel free to use the comment box below. We are also welcome any kind of suggestion and critics here. See you on the other stories.
