Asus MeMO ME171 Available in Taiwan

Asus was once announce a new 7″ tablet with stylus one year ago. Three months ago, the Taiwan based company bring the tablet once again at CES 2012 in Las Vegas. Remember it already? Yes, it is the MeMO ME 171. Without any press-release or special event, the company is now start selling the tablet at their country of origin. According to Netbook News, the device is currently priced at 17,500 Taiwan Dollars or equal to $585. For your information, this tablet is not the same with the quad-core, 7″ device, MeMO 370T. We have no idea when Asus will release this one. Probably they’re currently busy with the Nexus tablet project.

As we mentioned earlier, MeMO ME 171 sports 7″ touch screen. It is manage to provide maximum 1280 x 800 pixels resolution with IPS display technology. Deep under it’s hood lies a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, 1GB RAM, and 16GB internal memory, which is expandable using the available microSD card slot. On the back side, there’s a 5.0 megapixels primary camera unit, while on the opposite side, you should be able to locate the 1.2 megapixels web camera. Our Taiwan sources noted that this device is packed with SIM card slot and 3G connectivity support.

This device is currently work under Android 3.2 Honeycomb, but will be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich this year. There are plenty of pre-installed app on this device, including some app like MyPainter, which support for the usage of the stylus pen. There’s no official words about the possibility to bring this tablet to Europe or US, but we don’t think that Asus will do it. Most of android enthusiast now waiting for the new Nexus tablet or MeMO 370T from the company.
