There’s lot of amazing tablet for kids in Toy Fair 2012. One of them is the Lexibook series. This device is mainly aimed for kids at 3 years of age or above. It is available in three different model, the small one is currently run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, while the one that made for older kids feature the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Today, we will share our hands on experience with Lexibook Tablets for kids.
The smaller version of Lexibook offer open access to all multimedia provider. You can take advantage from any compatible sources to download some apps or musics for your kids. Since this tablet is coated with sturdy plastic frame and built-in screen cover, parents don’t have to worry for any damage that might be caused by child abuse like drop, scratch or kick.
On the other hand, the bigger version of Lexibook, which is mainly addressed to 5-8 years old kids, is currently sports 7 inch screen size. It has some pre-loaded ebooks and educational apps. Parents and kids should be able to grab other apps from the Android Market, although the tablet also come out with it’s own app store. As we mentioned earlier, this model run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It also feature resistive touch screen.
There’s also tablet called Touchman 8 and 10, each of them sports 8 inch and 10 inch display, respectively. These devices are made for older kids. It is coated with black and glossy chassis. The user interface is quite simple, there’s no colorful image that we’ve previously see on the other tablet. Both Touchman 8 and Touchman 10 feature single-core processors and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. They’re also has some useful pre-loaded apps like Netflix, Pandora, Spotify, and Office Suite.
Finally, we encounter a weird convertible tablet called Lap Tab. This device is currently run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. According to the company representative, this tablet is aimed for learning and playing purpose. But we think that the chassis is too plasticky and quite unreliable.
We are not sure when Lexibook will release these kids tablets. There’s also no pricing details revealed yet, but we belived that the smallest tablet for kids will be priced around Kindle Fire’s retail price.
