The development of tablet pc right now can be considered as the one that moves fastest in the world. It has become a common thing if we find a pc tablet running on Android OS that is priced at below $100, even though usually those Android tablets have shitty specs and performances. Yet, it seems that it is quite different in India. It is because in India, with only Rs. 2,500 or $35 (less than $50), you can get an Android tablet. The Android tablet called Aakash tablet pc has hit the market since several days ago and it is called as the cheapest Android tablet in the world.
The Aakash tablet pc comes with a 7-inch touch display at 800 x 480 pixels resolution, ARM11 366 MHz processor, Android 2.2 Froyo, 2100 mAh battery pack, WiFi, and so on. Well, those specs may be quite outdated, especially with its 366 MHz processor. Yet, what can you hope to have with just $35 right? Fortunately, there will be an upgraded version of the Aakash tablet pc that will hit the market in January 2012 if you do not like the specs above. The upgraded version of the Aakash tablet pc will come with the name of UbiSlate 7. Instead of coming with just a 366 MHz processor, the UbiSlate 7 will come with a 700 MHz Cortex A8 processor. That is almost twice the clockspeed of the Aakash tablet pc’s processor. Not only that, the other hardwares will also get some upgrades, including its battery pack from 2100 mAh to 3200 mAh, its Android version from Android 2.2 Froyo to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and the addition of GPRS with SIM and phone functionality (the Akash tablet pc does not have this feature). Unfortunately, the UbiSlate 7 will come with a slightly more expensive price of Rs. 2999, meaning that it will be Rs. 499 more expensive than the Akash tablet pc. Yet, that price level is still quite cheap after all.
